Description

***NOTE*** This fountain is NOT like the other fountains found on the internet (and that we also sell). This is an all stainless steel fountain just came on the market and are the first of its kind sold in the U.S. The fountain resembles our other #2 Decorative Fountain, 4 Spouts for sale on the internet.

WE ARE THE ONLY WEB SITE SELLING THIS FOUNTAIN IN THE UNITED STATES.

THIS FOUNTAIN IS THE HIGHEST QUALITY ABSINTHE FOUNTAIN ON THE WORLD MARKET TODAY, BAR NONE.

All metal pieces (except for the rooster finial) are stainless steel. The mouth blown and hand cut glass bowl is thicker than that of any other fountain made. This is a much heavier and far superior absinthe fountain.

The fountain is an exact reproduction of a vintage late 19th century Belle Epoque absinthe fountain.

Absinthe fountains were mostly used in high-end bars because of their expensive price tag. They were brought to the table, where the customer would prepare the absinthe himself. Absinthe fountains were (and still are) the preferred way to prepare absinthe, as one can perfectly control the rate of water. But unfortunately due to accidents, very few fountains have survived intact with its original glass bowl.

Proper use consists of: pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing an absinthe spoon on top of the glass and a sugar cube atop the spoon. The lid of the fountain is removed and fresh water and ice is added into the glass bowl. The spigot is slightly turned and the ice water is slowly dripped from the fountain onto the piece of sugar. The cold sugar water then drips into the glass of absinthe releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in color, as the water mixes with the anise. Refresh water before each use.

Fountain will accommodate 1 to 4 people at one time. Drink ratio varies from 1 part absinthe, to between 3 to 5 parts water, depending on one's preference. California Prop 65 compliant when properly used.

We also have antique absinthe fountains for sale in our store, La Maison d'Absinthe, located in New Orleans' historic French Quarter. We sell all things absinthe and are the first to receive most new absinthe items for the U.S. La Maison d'Absinthe is the only store in the U.S. dedicated solely to absinthe and is adjacent to the Absinthe Museum of America. Open 7 days a week.

This is a magnificent fountain! Very well made! Extremely solid construction! Remarkably sturdy on the table top (the photos seem to lend a thought the fountains will be top-heavy). This fountain is very stable on the table. The robinettes are very smooth, not sticky, so you may regulate the ice-water flow perfectly into your glass. The glass bowl hold 8 cups of liquid (water and ice combined). Enough to keep a good sized Absinthe party thoroughly louched all evening! lol! The etching on the globe is very beautiful and is enhanced when the fountain is filled with ice-water and back-lit.

I recommend a thorough cleaning with warm soapy water to remove the machining oil for the Robinette (faucets). Assembly is incredibly easy. For a dedicated Absintheur this is worth every penny you pay for it! This completes the Absinthe experience! I choose this fountain because the metal Robinettes won't melt should I try the "Bohemian" method (burning my Absinthe). I am glad I bought this fountain!
